Poppy’s Story: A Joyful Companion for Life
Dog Photography Session with Ellie & Mason

Some photo sessions go beyond capturing a cute dog—they tell a story. That was certainly the case with Poppy, a beautiful and gentle soul who joined Ellie and Mason’s family in the most touching of ways.

A Bond That Blossomed Instantly

Poppy came into Ellie and Mason’s life through a close friend in the military. Originally a therapy dog, Poppy was passed on to them when her owner’s deployment terms changed. It was bittersweet for him, but Poppy was welcomed into her new home with open arms—and paws.

“The first time we met her, she ran straight into our house as if she’d always lived there,” they recalled. “She immediately started playing with our other dog, Daphne, like they were lifelong friends.”

From the start, her calm and affectionate nature stood out. She blended into their family life effortlessly—quiet, comforting, and full of gentle energy.

A Dog Meant to Be

While the adoption came at the request of their friend, Ellie and Mason didn’t hesitate. Poppy had a natural bond with Daphne and instantly felt like part of the family. “She’s so easy to look after and incredibly cuddly,” Ellie said. “It was as if she chose us.”

A Beach Day to Remember

Of all the memories shared with Poppy, one particularly stands out: a beach trip to celebrate graduation. With just Poppy in tow, they headed to the sea—and she was in her element.

“She ran and ran along the beach, absolutely loving the sand and the sea. She grew up in Dorset, so I think it felt like home for her,” Mason recalled.

Everyday Moments That Matter

Poppy’s presence has brought joy, not just for Ellie and Mason, but especially for Daphne, who now has a best friend to share life with.

Their daily routine includes a special evening ritual: “Every night, Poppy finds a ball and insists on a game of fetch. It’s our little tradition, and it means the world.”

Capturing Her Spirit Through Photography

When Ellie and Mason saw the photographs from our shoot, their reaction said it all: “The photos captured her personality so wonderfully. She’s such an active dog and absolutely loves her walks—the images really reflect that.”

Family members were equally impressed. “Our parents even said we should enter them into a competition—not realising they were taken by a professional!”

A Reminder to Cherish the Everyday

For Ellie and Mason, the photo has become more than just a portrait. “It reminds us how important it is to let her run, play, and enjoy life. Dogs don’t ask for much—just love, companionship, and a chance to have fun.”
